Zeugopterus regius

Habitat & Distribution

Syn. Phrynorhombus regius (Bonnaterre). Prefers rough, stony ground where it clings to the undersides of rocks at 10-55m depth of water. It is also occasionally caught in sandy bays. It occurs along the western sea-board of Europe from the Mediterranean to northwest Scotland and all around the coast of Ireland, but is rarely seen.

Threats

Certain fishing techniques, such as scallop dredging, will result in some habitat damage and disruption.
