Tetrix ceperoi

Range & Status

Nationally scarce and local. Predominantly coastal, from South Wales round to Essex. Also confirmed well inland from north Cambridgeshire. Not easy to separate from the Slender Ground-hopper Tetrix subulata , with which it may often be found, so may be overlooked.

Regional Distribution

Isolated colonies from Hayle to the Bude area on the north coast, and a large population on The Lizard. Small and elusive colonies have been recorded from Penwith, and a singleton was found at Portmellon in 1989.

Habitat & Ecology

Most records are from marshy localities on the Lizard plateau or from wet cliff face seepages and cliff top marshes on killas cliffs, mostly on species-rich sites.

Threats

Trampling, or as at Constantine Bay arable cultivation.

Conservation

Some larger colonies are within nature reserves.
