Range & Status
Recently (1984) described as new to the British marine fauna when it was found attached to the valves of the Queen Scallop Aequipecten opercularis trawled from depths of 45-60m off Plymouth. Since this time it has been recorded off the south Cornish coastline, again on A. opercularis , and also from south Wales, where it was found attached to stipes of Laminaria hyperborea . It has also been recorded on the shells of the Common Whelk Buccinum undatum , on the carapace of the Spider Crab Maja squinado , on the Pink Sea Fan Eunicella verrucosa and on the body of the Lobster Homarus gammarus . British records are currently restricted to south-western coasts from Portland to South Wales.
