Widespread over much of Britain, although very localised.

Boconnoc Park and Stowe Woods in 1989.
Habitat & Ecology
Primarily a species of ancient woodlands and pasture-woodlands, where it is found under the bark of large items of decaying timber and in the fruiting bodies of fungi growing from it. A wide variety of tree species form suitable habitat.
Threats
Removal of large items of decaying timber from old parks, pasture-woodlands and ancient woodlands, usually for reasons of tidiness. Loss of old trees generally.
Conservation
Retention of decaying timber and the maintenance of diverse age structure in
tree populations. Boconnoc Park has a sympathetic
owner and is a SSSI. The part of Stowe Woods where it was found is owned by The
National Trust.
