Platycleis albopunctata

Range & Status

Strictly coastal in southern Britain, occurring from North Wales round to Essex.

Regional Distribution

Relatively common along the warmer south coast. On the north coast, there is a large population at Penhale dunes, reaching 1km inland, but elsewhere uncommon in small colonies. On the Isles of Scilly, there is a long known colony on Bryher, but not elsewhere.

Habitat & Ecology

Coarse grasses and rough vegetation on dunes and sea cliffs.

Threats

Many cliff colonies are in warm pockets of difficult to reach vegetation, so are relatively safe from the effects of human intrusion.

Conservation

None known.
