Range & Status

A scatter of localities along the coastal counties of southern Britain, with only one recent record.

Regional Distribution

Widely reported in the past - from Whitsand Bay, Gwithian Towans, Carbis Bay to Hayle, and most recently from Porth Kidney Dunes in 1967 and 1968 by R.T. Bannister and S.M. Turk, and from St. Martin' s (Mackechnie-Jarvis, 1969).

Habitat & Ecology

Has been found under seaweed and in the empty egg-capsules of the Common Whelk Buccinum undatum .

Coastal protection works.

Conservation

Natural beach transitions should be protected wherever they still survive.
