Range & Status
Fairly widespread over much of lowland England, but virtually absent from the west.
Regional Distribution
Only known from Greystone Wood (Alexander, 1991a) and Lanhydrock Park.
Habitat & Ecology
Breeds in rather hard decaying timber (especially the boughs) with a white-rot, of various broadleaved trees.
Threats
Greystone Wood is part of a large complex of woodlands currently under commercial
management for timber.
Conservation
Protection of ancient semi-natural woodlands from plantation forestry. Retention of dead and decaying timber.
