Only recorded in the UK from Cornwall and Devon. Foster (1987) provides a national
distribution map.
Regional Distribution
Recorded from College Reservoir in 1989 (Booth, 1990), Red Moor in 1972 (Foster, 1973), the De Lank river on Bodmin Moor in 1998, and Breney Common in 2001 (Bilton, unpublished).
Habitat & Ecology
Recorded from the shallows and margins of ponds and reservoirs, and muddy gravel beds beside rivers. A relatively common species further south in western Europe.

Conservation
Red Moor and Breney Common are Cornwall Wildlife Trust reserves. Listed (middle list) as a globally threatened/declining species (BSGR, 1995) and on the UK BAP Priority Species list (2007).
