A thin scatter of records across southern Britain.
Regional Distribution
Develops in overmature Oaks Quercus spp. along Fowey River on the Lanhydrock Estate, recorded in 1989 (Alexander, 1991a).
Habitat & Ecology
Larvae are predators of other invertebrates in the relatively soft decaying heartwood of Oaks and other broadleaved trees. The adults nectar at blossom, including Hogweed Heracleum spp.
Threats
Loss of older age classes of Oaks.
Conservation
The Lanhydrock Estate is owned by The National Trust.
