Range & Status
Very localised in southern Britain and has become increasingly scarce.
Regional Distribution
Joy (1908) refers to a record from the Isles of Scilly in April 1908, when it was found ' not rare by shaking old bundles of reeds lying on the ground' and indicates that he also found it on the neighbouring mainland on the same trip. The record is given as Tresco in the national Carabidae Recording Scheme dataset.
Habitat & Ecology
Found on mud or in lush vegetation of Reedmace Typha spp., sedges Carex spp. and Common Reed Phragmites australis .
Threats
The habitat of the species is susceptible to artificial drainage improvements for agriculture or other development.
Conservation
Protection of all remaining undisturbed wetlands.
