Bamber, in Howson & Picton, 1997, lists 16 British species of these tiny creatures which are less than a millimetre long; he states that they are a rarely abundant and that they are part of the marine interstitial meiofauna. So far only two species have been recorded in the far south-west - from north of Eddystone Rock and Plymouth Sound (Higgins, 1985).
