P.A. Gainey

This is an obscure group of unsegmented worms of which there are 12 known British species. Eight of these occur in Cornish waters of which four may be considered as provisionally nationally scarce species. Gainey, in Spalding, A. (Ed) 1997, has reviewed the status of this group and the Echiura, below, around the coasts of Cornwall. The information for this account comes from the author’s experience and from Gibbs (1977), Hayward & Ryland (1990) and Stephen & Edmonds (1972).
