S.M. Turk

Only two species of non-marine ribbon worm haves been reliably recorded in the British Isles. Argonemertes dendyi (Dakin) is a native of south-western Australia but has been introduced to the Azores and Canary Isles and been found in European greenhouses (Gibson, 1994). It occurs in Ireland and southwest Britain; there are several records from Cornwall where it can survive outdoors. Antiponemertes pantini (Southgate), a New Zealand species was found in Tresco Abbey Gardens in 1997.
