Range & Status

A cleptoparasitic species that is found in open, sunny areas within the nesting sites of the host Andrena cineraria . A widespread species found from west Cornwall to east Kent and north to Durham. It has always been a scarce species in Cornwall, however, more recently it seems to have undergone a resurgence and is now known from at least seven post-1990 sites. Listed as RDB3 by Falk (1991) recent data for the Provisional Atlas' indicates that the status of this species could be downgraded.
