Range & Status
A cleptoparasite of the rare mining bee Andrena bucephala . Recently (2008) found as new to Cornwall in open woodland on the Port Eliot estate in S.E. Cornwall. A rare species that has declined considerably with post-1970 records only known from about a dozen sites in S. Devon, E. and W. Kent, Surrey and Berkshire. It has always been much scarcer than its host, which itself is very scarce and probably declining.
