Range & Status

Records widely distributed down the western side of Britain.

Regional Distribution

Recorded at Liskeard in 1904. Since 1980, found at Zennor (1989 & 2000), Redlake Cottage Meadows (1994) and Wimalford, Upper Fowey Valley (2004 & 2006).

Habitat & Ecology

Boggy moorland areas and wet heath and grassland. The larvae develop in the nests of Myrmica ants, notably M. scabrinodis . The adults fly from May to July.

Threats

Drainage of wetland sites.

Conservation

Redlake Cottage Meadows is a Cornwall Wildlife Trust Reserve.
