Lucernariopsis cruxmelitensis

Range & Status

This species of stalked jellyfish is most commonly found on the red seaweeds Chondrus crispus and Mastocarpus stellatus , and occasionally on Eelgrass Zostera spp. on the lower shore and in the shallow sublittoral. A south-western species occurring from Dorset through to north Devon, it is also known from the west coast of Ireland. Lucernariopsis cruxmelitensis is on the UK List of Priority Species.
