Habitat & Distribution
This fish is normally found amongst and under shells and stones on muddy-sand areas. Whereas it is a relatively common species in shallow water in more northern areas, it is decidedly rare along the south and south-western coastline. Many intertidal records for this species have been confused with the much more common Montagu' s Sea-snail Liparis montagui . The Sea-snail has only been positively identified in Cornish waters from shallow water in and around the Falmouth estuary area.
