Habitat & Distribution

Syn. Raja circularis Couch. A demersal species, normally found in deeper, colder water on sandy or muddy bottoms, around the north coast of Scotland, including the Orkneys, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides, and also the west coast of Ireland. It is a rare species in Cornish waters which is trawled from deeper water or occasionally caught by anglers. This species has been placed on the UK List of Priority Species.
