Lestiphorus bicinctus

Range & Status

Recorded widely but sparingly over southern England from west Cornwall to Kent north to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire. It appears to be scarce in most parts of its range, though it also seems to be an elusive species. It is the host for the cleptoparasitic wasp Nysson trimaculatus . Associated with scrubby or brambly places in sunny locations on light soils, most of the Cornish records have been from coastal areas. Though there are numerous, validated, older records there are only four post-1980 records; Rosemullion Head, Marazion Marsh, Penhale Dunes and Hayle.
