Lasioglossum xanthopus

Range & Status

A very local species widely distributed in southern Britain. It occurs on coastal landslips, soft rock cliffs and calcareous grassland where it nests in light sandy soils in warm situations fully exposed to the sun. A genuinely scarce species which has undergone a serious decline in many areas. Whereas there are quite a few very old records for Cornwall, there is only one post-1980 record on the north coast.
