Range & Status
Native. Circumpolar Boreal-montane orchid. Found in the New Forest, Dorset, Cornwall, Devon, Wales, northern England and Scotland, Ireland and the Shetlands.
Not seen for several years and notoriously difficult to locate. It was last seen at Pendrift Downs on Bodmin Moor (SX17) in 1995, and probably still occurs somewhere on the Moor, and has also been looked for without success at Retire Common (SX06), last seen here in 1993.
Habitat & Ecology
In open patches in wet boggy situations. It is presumed to be a colonist of suitable habitat.
The most recent finds were in SSSI.
