Gastridium ventricosum

Range & Status

Native; a Mediterranean-Atlantic annual. In Britain it is found south of a line from London to Bristol and along the South Wales coast.

Regional Distribution

In Cornwall it was once found rarely, but is now confined to just one wall at Trelissick (SW83). It used to grow in nursery beds at the base of the wall.

Habitat & Ecology

The top of a mortared wall.

Threats

It is threatened by the growth of climbing plants that dominate lower parts of the wall.

Conservation

Trelissick is owned by the National Trust.
