Electra crustulenta

Range & Status

A species limited to estuarine habitats and which is only recorded at a few sites. It is recorded from Neal Point and at Cargreen, both on the Cornish side of the River Tamar. Here it is found on various substrata, from the lower shore to shallow water, including the fronds of fucoid seaweeds. Elsewhere it is known from Orkney, Northern Ireland, Poole Harbour (Dorset) and the River Severn. It may be more widespread but is extensively confused with other brackish water and estuarine species.
