Range & Status
Confined to southern coastline, where very localised.
Found at Lamorna by R.T. Bannister in 1924 and at Trerathick Point, Mawgan Porth by Roger Booth in 1998.
Habitat & Ecology
A predatory beetle living amongst sparsely-vegetated sandy or shingly ground; flightless and so poor at recovering lost ground.
Development of coastal habitats; coarsening of vegetation through lack of grazing and/or trampling, with consequent loss of open sandy areas; coastal protection works.
Much of the more sensitive coastline is now protected by SSSI designations.
