Range & Status
The distribution of this species seems to have a south-western bias with former strongholds in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. This species seems to have undergone a dramatic decline since the 1950s. It occurs in sandpits, heaths and dunes. There are numerous pre-1972 records in Cornwall but since then it has only been recorded from Penhale Dunes (2002) and the Isles of Scilly. The Isles of Scilly seems to be one of the strongholds for this species in Britain today, and it has been recorded recently from the dunes on Gugh, Tresco, St. Martin' s and St. Mary' s and from coastal heath on St. Martin' s and St. Mary' s.
