Arenophilus peregrinus

Range & Status

Status: Insufficiently known. Small and elusive; not known outside Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This small, pale centipede, up to 12mm long and with 45 leg pairs, was described from the Isles of Scilly, Jones (1989), and has subsequently been found at Lamorna Cove and from a copse near Stithians. It is distinguished by having two coxal larger pores opening under the lateral edge of the metasternite and a further minute one on the last legs together with the presence of a tubercle rather than a claw at the apex of these legs.
