Aphrodes
albifrons
Range & Status
Found along the southern coasts of Britain.
Regional Distribution
It has been recorded in Cornwall at the Gannel, Newquay by Joan Morgan in 1983.
Habitat & Ecology
This leafhopper is found in the upper levels of saltmarsh amongst Salt-marsh Grass Puccinellia maritima (which is common in the larger saltmarshes in Cornwall), where the sward height is about 10cm, often where Sea-purslane Atriplex portaculoides is present.
Threats
Sea defence works, coastal barrage schemes, heavy grazing.
Conservation
Any engineering schemes which would threaten the ecological processes that
maintain suitable areas of saltmarsh should be
resisted. If grazed, grazing pressure should be light.
