Range & Status
Formerly very widespread in coastal Britain but very localised. The few modern records are all from the south-west, including Cornwall.
Regional Distribution
Reported from Porthcurno and Grochall, Lizard by M.G. Morris in 1974; also the track from Chyvarloe to Loe Bar and at Ruan Lanihorne by A.P. Foster in 1980 and 1995 respectively. Subsequent records suggest that it is fairly widespread in the west and readily to be found.
Habitat & Ecology
Associated with Blackthorn Prunus spinosa , larvae almost certainly in the flowerbuds.
Threats
Scrub clearance.
Conservation
Penrose Estate is National Trust property.
