Range & Status

Archaeophyte. European Southern-temperate species. Scattered across lowland Britain, but most common in the south-east. Rare in Ireland.

Regional Distribution

Scattered in Cornwall where it has declined dramatically. It was formerly found on St. Mary' s, Isles of Scilly (SV91). Recent occurrences may be from seed-mixes.

Habitat & Ecology

Arable fields, waste places and roadside verges.

Threats

Herbicides and change of crops in arable land-use.

Conservation

Most sites are unprotected.
