Range & Status
A northern European bee, which is widely distributed throughout Britain as far north as west Sutherland. In recent years this moorland and heathland species has undergone a most dramatic decline. Once numerous, with many pre-1976 records and sites, there has been only one record since, at Hensbarrow Downs in 2004. This species has been designated a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) species, and is the host for the cleptoparasite bee Nomada roberjeotiana that has also undergone a dramatic decline.
