Amalosoma eddystonense

Range & Status

This species burrows in mud, coarse sand and shell gravel down to 50m. It occurs in mud offshore in east Cornwall (off Rame Head) and around the Plymouth area. This species has only been recorded here on relatively few occasions, the last time being in 1949, but there seems to be no reason why it should not still occur in this area. Elsewhere it is recorded from the west coasts of Wales, Cumbria and Scotland north to Orkney.
